Induction day 36…
July 9, 2008 at 6:15 am (Induction) (Atkins, diet, menu)
I had an excellent day today. A few of my closest girlfriends and I took a rafting trip down the river and it was awesome. I am burnt like you cannot believe but I had so much fun, it was well worth it! I also fudged a little on what I ate, er well, actually what I drank. I had one glass of wine and a Michelob Ultra light beer. I am human and I do make mistakes but tomorrow is another day and I will be right back on plan. I guess everyone just needs a day to relax and have a little fun and since I am moving out of the state in a few weeks, I want to really enjoy my time with my friends. I know it will slow me down a little but it was such a fun day and it was totally worth the extra work I will have to put in. I ate completely on plan so at least I didnt go totally overboard. The important thing to do when you mess up is to just get right back on plan with the very next bite and thats what I did
I wanted to briefly share a couple of things about the supplements I take. If you have read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution then you will know that Dr. A considered Atkins a 3 pronged approach consisting of food, supplements and exercise. In my opinion, if you aren’t doing all three of those things then you really shouldn’t say you are doing Atkins. At the very minimum you should be taking a good multi vitamin everyday, preferably one without iron. Centrum silver is a good one and no you don’t have to be a senior to take it
In addition to a multi-vitamin, I also take vitamin c with flavinoids, b complex, 1000 mg fish oil, calcium with vitamin d and chromium picolinate. If you start having leg cramps (like I have had lately), then you will also want a potassium supplement and perhaps a magnesium supplement as well. The chromium picolinate is an important supplement because it really helps with weight loss and your metabolism.

Induction day 35…
July 7, 2008 at 8:42 pm (Induction) (Atkins, diet, menu)
35 days in and doing fine although I do find myself frustrated with my weight loss. I wish I could take a magic pill and drop 100 pounds. I am realistic though and know that isnt possible so I am just sticking with what I know works and taking it one day at a time.
I know a lot of people are reading my blog and using it to help in their own weight loss journey. I really just started this blog as a way to keep track of what I am eating and to document my emotions over the course of losing this extra baggage. I am thrilled that it might help others who are struggling with their own weight issues. I will try to add more important information to my posts in order to help people even more.
My first important point is to read the book and follow it exactly! I use the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution because it is the last book Dr. A was personally involved with and in my opinion Atkins nutritional is a load of crock company intent on making money off of peoples desperation to lose weight. I think if Dr. A were alive, he would absolutely without a doubt not be ok with how they are using his name to push crap products. The Atkins bars and shakes and other assorted variety of crap foods are pure garbage and I would never ever put them in my body. They have stuff in them that is not induction friendly and Atkins Nutritional admits themselves that their products have been known to stall the weight loss in some people. So that is my first advice, read the book, follow it exactly and dont waste your money on the bars and shakes. Eat as close to a whole foods diet as possible. Tomorrow I will talk a little about supplements and how important they are.

Day 32… yesterday we had a little get together and pool party at a friends house. It was fun but I think I ate too much cheese and went over a tad on my veggies for the day. Induction day 31…
July 3, 2008 at 9:34 pm (Induction) (Atkins, diet, menu)
Well its officially been a month since I started Atkins. It has gone smoother and better than I ever could have imagined. I feel so in control of my eating habits and what I am putting into my body. I honestly thought I couldn’t lose weight. I thought my metabolism was so shot that I never would be able to lose weight. I am so happy to be proven wrong! I have lost roughly 18 or 19 pounds in total. I actually gained some of my initial weight back and since I have been cheat free, I really think it was just my body re-stabilizing my water levels. I have seen BIG changes in my measurements though! That is how I know that this is truly working for me. I feel better than I ever have in my life and I am shrinking. I know the weight loss will come. I am happy with almost 20 pounds lost in my first month. I am excited for myself and feel like the true me again. Its amazing. I will forever sing the Atkins praise because it has been and continues to be a miracle for me

Induction day 30…
July 2, 2008 at 6:30 pm (Induction) (Atkins, diet, menu)
Still doing fine, tomorrow is my one month anniversary of doing Atkins. I had several shots of vodka today. Guess it was about time for that little indulgence. I need to make a point of the fact that you cannot drink as much on Atkins as you could before. *insert funny drunk face here * I mixed it with club soda and a little crystal light. Yes it has aspartame but I drank maybe 6 ounces max. Hopefully it wont bite me in the ass later
My tummy definitely hates me for drinking! I feel awful, blah!
